Silver Fern CEO and Co-Founder Colleen A. McGuire Receives Harford Business Journal’s Annual Women in Business Award

Hartford, Conn., March 22, 2021  — Silver Fern Healthcare’s Co-Founder and CEO Colleen A. McGuire was named a 2021 honoree of the Hartford Business Journal’s Women in Business Awards. Silver Fern Healthcare is a proud Connecticut company that is transforming chronic disease care through its evidence-based, clinically validated SaaS behavior diagnostic and decision support platform.

This year, the award recognizes 25 remarkable women who are making a significant difference within their organizations and the local community. Selected by a panel of independent judges, these women are admired by the business community, and have demonstrated success, a strong track record of leadership, and are moving through this time of change with positivity and confidence. Honorees will be celebrated with a virtual ceremony on April 22, 2021.

Despite uncertainty and challenges in the healthcare industry, under McGuire’s leadership, 2020 was a year marked by significant progress for Silver Fern. During the second half of last year, Silver Fern released a completely upgraded version of its clinically proven Behavior Diagnostic Platform, including adding new features, population health analytics, and three additional disease programs. WellSpark Heath, also based in Connecticut, has used the Silver Fern Platform as part of its behaviorally enriched Diabetes Prevention Program and achieved 7x participant engagement and 2x the number of participants reaching health targets compared to the CDC’s standard Diabetes Prevention Program.

McGuire has a long history of success as a business leader and is a trusted advisor to boards and non-profits. In addition to leading Silver Fern through its current phase of fast-paced growth, during her career McGuire has held senior leadership positions in large public financial service companies and has worked as a consultant to executive leadership teams in large and small companies. Prior to founding Silver Fern, she was the Executive Director of the University of Connecticut’s Graduate Business Learning Center and an instructor in the Business School’s Marketing and Management Departments. She currently serves on the Board of Directors of the United Way of Central and Northeastern Connecticut.

“I am honored to be named as a Hartford Business Journal Women in Business awardee alongside such an accomplished group of leaders. Silver Fern provides tools that enable clinicians and patients to build deeper, more meaningful relationships, which is vital to providing whole person care and improve the lives and health outcomes of patients. I am proud to lead a passionate team that is driven to achieve our mission,” she said.

When asked about the legacy she wants to leave behind, McGuire commented, “I would like to be remembered as a Level-5 leader, most importantly, leading with compassion and being an effective champion of our mission. I would like to be remembered as having been someone who cares deeply about her people and someone who had tremendous positive human and societal impact.”
