Silver Fern announced today the addition of seasoned healthcare executive, Cynthia Wicks, to its executive team. Christopher Tucker has been promoted to Chief Operations & Technology Officer, and Julia Winer to Chief Corporate Officer.
With more than three decades of healthcare industry experience within national managed care organizations, health insurance companies, ACOs, physician IPAs, and hospital system organizations, Wicks understands customers’ need to provide and sustain the highest quality of care while managing the total cost of care, especially for the higher risk and rising risk populations. She comes to the company from the Board of Advisors and will lead business development and customer service.
“This tool is truly special because it does not replace or remove the clinical care team from the conversation with the patient/member, unlike some direct-to-consumer apps,” Wicks said. “It is based on 30 years of peer-reviewed clinical research with proven results. I am very excited to help Silver Fern get this platform into the hands of clinical teams who are ready to move the needle on patient engagement and chronic disease outcomes.”
In his new role, Tucker, who has extensive experience in healthcare operations, technology, consulting, strategy, and program optimization, will lead all facets of Silver Fern’s operations and technology.
“I am incredibly humbled to join the Executive Leadership Team of Silver Fern Healthcare,” Tucker said. “I am excited to lead our operations and technology teams as we help to transform the healthcare system with valuable insights to drive health outcomes, influence quality metrics, inform population health, and reduce the total cost of care.”
In her new role as Chief Corporate Officer, Winer, a recent Hartford Business Journal Forty Under 40 honoree, will lead PR, marketing, product improvement, and human resources at Silver Fern.
“I am honored to receive this promotion and for the opportunity to serve as Chief Corporate Officer of Silver Fern,” Winer said. “I was attracted to Silver Fern because of its mission and the passion of its leaders to improve the health of people with chronic conditions. Silver Fern’s growth and success is a testament to the value and innovation it is bringing to the healthcare industry, and I am eager to continue to contribute to the team in new ways through this incredible leadership opportunity.”
Tucker and Winer joined Silver Fern full-time in early 2020, Tucker as SVP, Head of Operations and Winer as SVP, Marketing & Communications. They received MBAs from UConn in 2018 and 2016, respectively, where they met Silver Fern CEO, Colleen McGuire, then serving as Executive Director of School of Business.
Despite uncertainty and challenges in the healthcare industry, 2020 was a year marked by significant progress for Silver Fern. During the second half of 2020, Silver Fern released a completely upgraded version of its clinically proven Behavior Diagnostic Platform, adding new features to enable behavior and psychosocial decision support and to offer population health insights, and adding three new programs, Heart Failure, Hypertension, and Healthy Lifestyle & Disease Prevention, joining its flagship Prediabetes and Type 2 Diabetes Programs.
“Cynthia, Chris, and Julia were instrumental in the advancements we made last year, and we look forward to continuing to build upon our progress in 2021,” said Colleen A. McGuire, Co-Founder and CEO of Silver Fern Healthcare. “We are thrilled to have these talented professionals, each so committed to our mission, serve on our executive team.”
